Would you like to come with us at the GALA conference in San Diego in March?
In its 6th year, GALA - the Globalization & Localization Association - will be awarding a scholarship to two students or recent graduates of translation, localization and interpreting programs anywhere around the globe. We at BeatBabel are proud to sponsor this program for the second year in a row.
Last year, the winners were the talented Rita Pang, Master's graduate in Technical Communication and Localization (TCLoc) at the University of Strasbourg (France) and Katherine Tse, Master's graduate in Applied Translation Studies at the University of Leeds (United Kingdom). It was an honor to read their essays and meet with them both in person.
The winners of the Rising Star Scholarship will be able to travel to San Diego, California from March 15th to 18th and attend the annual GALA Language of Business conference with travel, hotel and full conference fees paid. A great opportunity to learn, network and start your localization career the right way…
To apply for the scholarship, you will create an original conference poster. Conference posters communicate ideas and research to conference attendees. Posters typically include visual elements (such as pictures, data, graphs, diagrams) and narrative text to showcase your work. Two posters will be awarded the Rising Star Scholarship. The winners will be presented on stage at GALA 2020 San Diego, the posters will be displayed the conference, and the winners will have the opportunity to discuss their posters with delegates during a refreshment break.
You can find all the relevant information on GALA’s website. Good luck and we hope to see you in sunny San Diego soon.
